  • Sasha Samochina

    Executive Director

    Sasha is an Emmy award-winning creative director, technologist, and artist. She pioneered and led innovation in immersive technology at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where she built immersive tools for astronauts, scientists, and engineers—repurposing that work into public outreach projects. She piloted an experimental creative technology lab in design and branding and created exhibitions highlighting the Field Museum of Natural History of Chicago’s conservation work. Sasha continues to build transformative visual experiences, helping the public explore STEAM. She founded some-thing Company in 2023 and some-thing Foundation in 2024.

  • Jason Richards

    Chief Financial Officer

    Jason is a seasoned audio and visual professional with over 23 years of experience. He balances his time between audio engineering and art installations and helps install exhibitions at the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County. He also has extensive experience in set construction and prop management for films and photoshoots, and as a musician, he has released and mastered numerous projects. He holds a Master's Degree in Art and Technology from CalArts and a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology from the University of San Diego.

  • Brigit Powers

    Secretary of the Board

    Brigit is a strategic consultant for life sciences companies with 16 years of experience across various industries, including medical devices, biotechnology, and consumer electronics. Formerly Head of Design at Oxford Nanoimager (ONI), she holds a Master's in Analytical Environmental Chemistry and degrees in Chemistry and Biology from Northern Arizona University. Her work has been published in Nature and has had multiple patents since her time at Apple. Passionate about equity, Brigit has led diversity initiatives since 2007 and mentors in the TechWomen program with the State Department.

  • Clarke Sumner

    Board Member

    Clarke is an educator who has worked as a language immersion teacher, administrator, and school principal. She is currently the Program Director at a trilingual (Mandarin, Spanish, English) elementary and middle school. She has completed dual degrees in Middle Childhood Early Adolescent Education and Environmental Science, and Spanish Teaching, through the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire and the Universidad de Valladolid in Spain. Clarke is an advocate for neuroaffirming and language immersion education, and coaches educators and parents on meeting students' holistic needs.

  • Jay Israelson

    Board Member

    Jay is a composer renowned for his work in film and television music. As a multi-instrumentalist, he has collaborated with distinguished Oscar-nominated artists such as Sting, Norah Jones, Scarlett Johansson, and violinist Joshua Bell. He has also worked as a pianist and arranger with the London Symphony Orchestra. Jay tours internationally, working with notable indie artists. He serves as the resident pianist at El Prado in Echo Park, Los Angeles. Beyond his music career, Jay is an avid amateur astronomer and astrophotographer. He resides with his partner and their toddler son in Los Feliz, CA.
